Instructions on the Applications of Switching Power Supplies
With the rapid advancement of power electronics technology and the switching industry, power electronic devices have become increasingly intertwined with people's work and daily lives. Electronic devices, however, cannot function without a reliable power supply. In the 1980s, computer power supplies fully transitioned to switching power supplies, marking a complete power supply upgrade for computers. By the 1990s, switching power supplies had successively entered various electronic and electrical equipment domains, such as programmable switches, telecommunications, electronic testing equipment power supplies, and control equipment power supplies. This widespread adoption has further accelerated the rapid development of switching power supply technology.
With the rapid development of power electronics technology and the switching industry, power electronic devices have become increasingly intertwined with people's work and daily lives. All electronic devices rely on a reliable power source. In the 1980s, computer power supplies fully transitioned to switching power supplies, leading the charge in computer power supply upgrades. In the 1990s, switching power supplies began to enter various electronic and electrical equipment fields, such as program-controlled switches, communications, electronic testing equipment power supplies, and control equipment power supplies. This widespread adoption further accelerated the rapid development of switching power supply technology. A switching power supply is a type of power supply that uses modern power electronics technology to control the on-off time ratio of switching transistors, thereby maintaining a stable output voltage. It is typically composed of a pulse width modulation (PWM) control IC and MOSFETs. Compared to linear power supplies, the cost of both increases with output power, but at different rates. At a certain output power point, the cost of a linear power supply surpasses that of a switching power supply, marking a cost reversal point. With the development and innovation of power electronics technology, switching power supply technology is continuously evolving, driving this cost reversal point increasingly toward lower output power ends, thus providing wide development space for switching power supplies.
The high-frequency operation of switching power supplies represents their trend of development. High-frequency operation enables miniaturization of switching power supplies, allowing them to enter broader application fields, particularly in ** technology areas, promoting the miniaturization and lightweight design of ** technology products. Furthermore, the development and application of switching power supplies hold significant importance in energy conservation, resource saving, and environmental protection.
