A micro switch is a quick-action switch activated by pressure, also known as a sensitive switch. It is a master limit switch with a very small travel and instantaneous action. The micro switch is a small contact switch that is engaged with a light touch; it is commonly used in factories as part of larger switches for short-circuit and overcurrent protection. When an external mechanical force acts on the operating button, the button moves downward, stretching the spring through a pull hook. Once the spring extends to a certain length, the moving reed rapidly moves downward, causing the contact at the right end of the moving reed to turn and connect with the normally open contact below, thereby achieving circuit switching. If the external force is removed, the spring's restoring force causes the contacts to switch instantly again. By adding wheels or pressure blocks, other structural types of micro switches can be derived to suit different applications. They are widely used in mice, household appliances, industrial machinery, motorcycles, and other places; despite their small size, these switches play an irreplaceable role.
The working principle of the micro switch is as follows: External mechanical force is applied to the action reed through transmission elements (such as push pins, buttons, levers, rollers, etc.), accumulating energy to a critical point, which triggers an instantaneous action, causing the moving contact at the end of the action reed to quickly connect or disconnect from the fixed contact. When the force on the transmission element is removed, the action reed generates a reverse force, and when the reverse travel of the transmission element reaches the action threshold of the reed, it instantly completes the reverse action. The micro switch features small contact spacing, short action travel, low actuation force, and rapid switching. The movement speed of its moving contact is independent of the movement speed of the transmission element. The push-pin type is the basic form of the micro switch, from which various derivatives can be developed, such as short-travel button type, long-travel button type, extra-long-travel button type, roller button type, reed roller type, lever roller type, short arm type, long arm type, and so on. Micro switches are used in electronic and other equipment for automatic control and safety protection devices that require frequent circuit switching. They are categorized into large, medium, and small types, and can be further divided into waterproof types (for use in liquid environments) and standard types, connecting two circuits to provide on/off control for appliances, machinery, and the like.
The control of the micro switch is achieved using the throttle cable cam that regulates the throttle opening. The micro switch is mounted at a suitable position on the cable cam; when the throttle cable cam returns, it pushes against the micro switch arm, disconnecting the relay coil power supply, and the relay opens.
